A vision occurs when in a flash we reach an understanding and knowing of something in it’s fullness and feel it to be true down to the core of our being. The full moon is a time when such a true awareness can be experienced. An eclipse is a new or full moon with an increased intensity of power. During an eclipse, collectively we experience a vision or an awareness of a truth.
In December there are two eclipses. The annular eclipse will occur on December
14th at 8:46 pm EST in the sign of Sagittarius. A lunar eclipse will occur on
December 30th at 5:30 am in the sign of Cancer. Both eclipses can be a time
to go on what Native Americans refer to as a vision quest. A vision quest is
when one seeks an inner revelation that provides direction and an idea of one’s
life purpose.
The upcoming annular eclipse will speak more to us collectively about issues
of a Sagittarian nature. It will call for tolerance of others. We are to embrace
humanity in all its diversity and to accept all philosophies and religions as
just different means of searching for higher knowledge and truth. The lunar
return on the 30th carries the message of Cancer. We are to reach out to our
family and be more loving, nurturing and protective. We are to learn to extend
our family circle, to respect mothers, women, children and the feminine side
of ourselves.
The Winter Solstice, which occurs on December 21, is a time to reestablish our
equilibrium, to restore balance and harmony in our lives, to reflect on what
we accomplished during the past year and to plan for the future.
