When you go to sleep at night, you lay down and the top of your head points to a certain compass direction. In feng shui theory, you are plugging yourself into a cosmic line of energy that is either going to drain you or re-charge you, and many things in between.

Since many feng shui applications are based on timing and direction, the timing of when you were born will reveal what some of your best and worst directions are. You can utilize these directions for a number of things and making yourself more of a magnet for prosperity is just one edge you can give yourself.

One branch of traditional feng shui is called the Eight Mansion School and the "eight mansions" are a reference to the eight basic directions of north, south, east, west, northeast, southeast, northwest and southwest.

Based on what year you were born, and your gender, you will have a personal "wealth direction." If you can sleep with your head pointing to that direction, it helps you attract more career opportunities and advancements.

How to determine your personal wealth direction for sleeping?

Refer to the chart given below. When you look at the year you were born, take into consideration that the Chinese Solar Calendar begins on February 4th, not January 1st.

So if you were born between January 1st and February 3rd in any given year, you would consider yourself born the year before. For example: if you were born January 18, 1967, you would consider yourself born in 1966.

This cycle repeats itself every nine years, so if you don't see your birth year listed, then just find a year that is 9 or 18 years older than you or younger than you on the chart.

For instance, the chart starts with 1970. If you were born in 1961, that is 9 years apart from 1970, so you have the same Wealth Direction as that year. Not everyone will find it practical or possible to sleep in their wealth direction, but if you can, then try it out.

There are many other ways to attract wealth with feng shui applications, this is just one of them. And in order to know for sure what direction you are sleeping, you've got to use a compass to know the real direction your bed goes.
